Fix a CarFax Record

A vehicle's service visit was reported to CARFAX with the wrong mileage, or a service record on the CARFAX report is inaccurate.

Use this when

  • A customer (or the store) spots wrong mileage or an inaccurate service entry on a CARFAX report that came from one of our visits.

Who can do this

Anyone at the store — but the fix happens at CARFAX, not in OverDrive. Once a visit is reported, corrections go through CARFAX directly.

Do it

  1. Call a CARFAX representative at (888) 655-5362, option 2, to adjust an incorrect mileage entry or remove an inaccurate service record from the report.
  2. Have the vehicle and visit details in front of you — the customer, the date of service, and what the record should say.

Escalate

Not sure what OverDrive reported, or the customer disputes the visit itself? Post in the store's OverDrive support channel with the RO number before calling CARFAX, so you're correcting from facts.
