Coupons

Coupons are created manually in OverDrive, supporting dollar or percent discounts on parts and on labor. Unlike VAST, OverDrive lets a coupon carry both a start date and an end date, so it expires automatically with no manual deactivation step. The retail systems team owns OverDrive coupon management.

When this applies

A new coupon is issued, or an existing coupon's active window changes, and it needs to be available in OverDrive.

The process

  1. When a new coupon is issued, manually create it in OverDrive with a start date and an end date, using Part $/% or Labor $/% as applicable. (Retail Systems)
  2. Set the OverDrive end date three to four days after the coupon's true expiry as a grace buffer, so a customer who arrives just after expiry can still redeem it — this is the retail systems team's standing practice. (Retail Systems)

Go-live & cutover notes

  • Because OverDrive auto-expires coupons on their end date, no manual deactivation is needed — the manual monthly expire step used in VAST doesn't apply to OverDrive, and it drops out of the OverDrive coupon process. Coupon management stays in OverDrive on automated start and end dates. (Retail Systems)
  • Coupons still originate from the retail systems team; OverDrive coupon setup is coordinated with them. (Retail Systems)
