Physical Inventory & Adjustments¶
OverDrive has no physical-inventory feature on day one — that capability is still being built. Physical inventory is instead performed in VAST during cutover. OverDrive does allow inventory adjustments, but they don't automatically flow into the accounting and reporting still built around VAST, so every adjustment routes through Derek and is communicated to Justin.
When this applies¶
An inventory adjustment is needed after go-live.
The workaround¶
- Submit any inventory adjustment request to Derek Doster, the adjustment administrator — OverDrive adjustments don't automatically flow into VAST-based accounting and reporting. (Store Associate)
- Derek makes the inventory adjustment in OverDrive. (IT — Derek)
- Derek communicates each adjustment to Justin so the accounting impact is recorded. (IT — Derek)
- Justin posts the adjustment into Great Plains — this is usually done by sales audit. (Accounting — Justin)
Go-live & cutover notes¶
- Cutover: perform the physical inventory in VAST during cutover, before going live in OverDrive — a one-time activity. (Store / Inventory — Christine Merriman)
- Cutover: transfer the resulting starting inventory position into OverDrive — a one-time activity. (IT — Jacob)
